Cleveland, OH

Cleveland, Ohio on Lake Erie was our next stop.

Why and when Cleaveland became Cleveland without the “a” is not really known.

But we do know it is on Lake Erie

and Home to the Rock ‘N’ Roll Hall of Fame, the birthplace of Rock ‘N’ Roll

Also home to the Great Lakes Science Center

And FirstEnergy Stadium, home of the Cleveland Browns

A brief walk through downtown showed some remarkable architecture and the Fountain of Eternal Life surrounded by early 20th Century buildings.

On the way out of town, we stopped at the West Side Market for some fresh produce. Unfortunately the German Butcher was not there on a Sunday.

But Frank’s Bratwurst was open

A well rounded day of sights, history and local life that we had not thought would await us in Cle(a)veland, Ohio.

Week 2 in Canton and HOF game

The second week in Canton, Ohio was highlighted by the main reason for our stay – the Football Hall of Fame visit and game.

The Hall of Fame visit is a once in a lifetime experience and was especially interesting for Kirsten, who is not an ardent football fan.

From the bronze busts of past inductees

to the space reserved for the 2017 inductees, including Jerry Jones the owner of the Dallas Cowboys.

Everybody dreams of the Super Bowl trophy

With the many exhibits and movies watched, as well as live show of Joe Namath being interviewed for ESPN, we headed to the Stadium for the Hall of Fame Game. Popcorn in hand we were ready for the show, including the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders.

The pre-game show included Army Paratroopers landing in the stadium

the introduction of the 2017 inductees

and the game between the Dallas Cowboys and Arizona Cardinals representing Jerry Jones and Kurt Warner as the 2017 inductees among others.

An afternoon and evening well worth it.
