Compass RV Park

After another month of “parking” at the RV dealer to work out the problems it was time for another “road trip”.

It just so happened that the roads and parking spots in our condo area were to be re-paved and we needed to get out anyway.

So we went to Compass RV Park in St. Augustine, Florida. A mere 4 miles away from home, but perfect to test the repairs and familiarize ourselves a bit more with the new RV.

And of course we had figured out what the storage bays are for and could now test the new BBQ grill, our zero gravity chairs, the new carpet, and the list goes on.

Placed right next to a small lake and fountain, the spot was perfectly shaded for the still hot Florida days and yet no direct neighbor close by.

We set up and had Rita and Paul, as well as Susan and Robert over for BBQ and drinks to test the new equipment.

And it was shady enough for Selene to enjoy being off leash and rest. Her overall being is not getting better and she needs to be carried in and out of the unit.

First week in the new RV

As the week comes to an end we feel that the added room makes a huge difference considering we want to spend more time on the road. More room to set up the office, more room for Selene to spread out – just more room overall.

We have not quite figured out how to make use of all the storage space in the bays, but trust that we eventually will.

But we also should not forget that there still are a lot of items that need to be addressed.

The A/C run off constantly runs over the awning, not very pleasant when you sit underneath it.

The tank fill lights for the grey and black tank are way off.

And then there is a long list of little items that need to be addressed.

At least we had our first meal without feeling squeezed in as we did in the Class C.

But we also noticed that there are larger and fancier units out there.

So, back to the shop we go with a list of repair and replace items. Let’s see what the next visit brings.

First Road Trip

After several weeks in the shop to get the kinks ironed out that we found after the initial walk through, we took our first trip to the KOA in Kingsland. Familiar territory as Willy also took his first trip here.

It has been done

After months and months of research, endless YouTube videos, test drives and visits to near and far RV dealerships, we have made our decision and purchased (well as near a purchase as is possible) our new RV.

Welcome Charlie.

Hello Friends

Welcome to our small blog, where we will try to keep you updated on our travels and happenings.

We thought about the name for a short while and it sort of came naturally. What else would you call 2 Krauts (albeit with a US passport) that travel the roads of the US.

Come join us if you want and provide us with feedback if you like.

St. Marys, Georgia

Thought we would head into the small town of St. Marys and check on the Cumberland Island ferry service. Turns out that they are not very pet friendly- no dogs allowed.

So we had breakfast instead, toast and coffee for the adults and water and a treat for Selene.

Who did not really care one way or another.

Walked around the picturesque Victorian town after breakfast

and headed back to the Campground.

Kingsland later that week

It got a little tight today when the new neighbor showed up, parked and moved his sliders out.

Even though these were the “deluxe, patio sites” the space between the spots is not too roomy.

Turns out though that Michael and Carolina are nice neighbors and themselves amazed a the small space between the units.

So we packed up and took Selene to the beach.

Nice, clean, wide sand and lots of room to walk.

Kingsland, Georgia

One of our favorite places close to home is the KOA in Kingsland, Georgia.

So, after the move from our house to the Condo it was time to take a breather and relax for a few days.

So we packed up, fueled

Got the patio site with some extra room (or so we thought) and got settled in
